Renowned intergenerational expert to give keynote

We are pleased to formally announce that the Gary Andrews International Fellow  for 2023 is Professor Shannon Jarrott.

Shannon is a professor of social work at The Ohio State University, where she specialises in community-based services. Her research of implementation and outcomes of evidence-based intergenerational practice with diverse participants reflects a community-based participatory approach. Over her career, she has worked with childcare centres, adult day service programs, primary schools, residential aged care, youth organisations, universities, food banks and churches interested in using the strengths of younger and older people to the benefit of individuals and communities.

We look forward to welcoming Shannon to Australia. We know our members will enjoy her various presentations and forums at #AAGConf23 and in her travels around Australia (destinations to be confirmed).

AAG's Online Community is now live

We're pleased to be promoting the upcoming launch of AAG's new Online Community, which will go live on Wednesday 29 March.

Designing and developing the Online Community has been a huge job and a long time in the making. But we have undertaken the task with gusto, because it is a direct response to member feedback: over the years and in the recent member survey, you've told us that you want an exclusive, professional and safe online space to connect and collaborate with other members. This is it!

Our Online Community is made by and for people with a shared interest in connecting research, policy and practice. Our members will drive the content and make meaningful connections with peers who share our interests. Importantly, it's a safe and supportive place to share ideas, expertise and opportunities. We've captured these key messages in a short recording

TedX talk by AAG Board member

Dr Anita Goh is an AAG Board Member and Senior Research Fellow at the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI), an AAG Collaborative Research Centre (CRC). She was invited to give a TEDx talk on dementia prevention in September 2022. At a TEDx event, speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. The video has just been published by TED HQ. Well done, Anita!

One more thing: Spam and virus blocks

Spam and virus protection programs have been going into overdrive lately, with many AAG members unable to receive or access communications from AAG, including password reset request emails. We share your frustration! If you’re having this problem, please:

  • Ask your IT administrator to put AAG on your organisation’s ‘white list’
  • Mark AAG as a ‘safe sender’ (in Outlook, click on ‘Junk’ and select ‘Never block sender’)
  • Once the password reset emails from AAG can get through to you, log into your AAG membership account and reset your password.
